A Love Story Across Four Countries: Our Unforgettable Anniversary Trip to South America

How one couple’s 45-day anniversary trip to South America became the journey of a lifetime.

At Across South America, we often say that the best way to understand what we do is to hear it directly from the travelers who’ve lived it.

Join us as we explore the highlights of their anniversary trip to South America, a true testament to love and adventure.

Today, we’re honored to share the story of two extraordinary people: Mike and Lauree Low. When they came to us, they weren’t just looking for a vacation — they were celebrating 50 years of marriage. What they wanted was meaning. Magic. And moments that would last long after they returned home.

This is their love letter to South America — and to what it means to travel with heart and intention.

“We Wanted More Than just an Anniversary Trip to South America…”

“Fifty years of marriage is no small feat — it’s a collection of shared sunrises, lessons, and laughter. When we began planning how to celebrate this milestone, we knew we wanted more than just a trip. We wanted meaning. Magic. Moments that would stay with us long after we unpacked our bags. That’s exactly what Across South America gave us.”

From the very first planning session, they felt something different. Personal attention. Real care. A deep desire to understand their story — and reflect that in every detail of their itinerary.

“Maria, Clara, and the team crafted a flawless 45-day itinerary that felt as if they had known us for years.”

An Anniversary Trip to South America Crafted with Heart

What started with a simple, romantic request — to deliver a red rose and love note to Lauree — became a beautifully orchestrated adventure across four countries.

“During our adventure in South America, a simple yet romantic request to deliver a red rose and a love note to Lauree sparked an intimate journey, beautifully orchestrated and seemingly written just for us.
Every stop, from the windswept beauty of Patagonia to the soul-stirring mysteries of Rapa Nui, came with surprises: chocolates on pillows, candlelit dinners, front-row seats, and conversations that reminded us how deeply people can care — even across continents.”

At Awasi, The Singular, and Arakur, Mike and Lauree weren’t just welcomed — they were cherished. They stayed up late swapping stories with staff, shared wine pairings with chefs, and enjoyed gourmet meals that felt like living memories.

“We weren’t just guests. We were part of something bigger.” ” We talked late into the night with staff who became friends, shared wine pairings with chefs who treated us like family, and savored gourmet meals that tasted like stories passed down through generations”

More Than Miles: What They Truly Traveled

“We crossed four countries, took 13 flights, cruised 1,200 miles, hiked 160, and walked over 483,000 steps. But what we really traveled were the layers of our own connection — and rediscovered just how strong and alive we still are”

Mike and Lauree reminded us that the most meaningful travel isn’t just about where you go — it’s about how you feel while you’re there. And who you become when you return.

“Along the way, we realized bespoke travel — done with heart, intention, and care — is exactly how we want to see the world from now on.
We’ll always wonder about the places we weren’t able to visit, but that just gives us a reason to return. And when we do, we know exactly who we’ll call”

The Lake District & Patagonia: In Puerto Varas, they discovered the serenity of lakes, waterfalls, and volcanoes. Then it was on to The Singular Patagonia — where comfort and wilderness coexist in perfect balance. Their journey continued with a four-day Australis Cruise through fjords and glaciers, ending in Ushuaia for a stay at the breathtaking Arakur.

Argentina: From the southern tip to the north, they soared to the lush jungles of Iguazú Falls, staying in a private villa at Awasi. Immersive excursions brought them up close to the falls and deep into the surrounding forest. In Buenos Aires, they explored hidden corners, street art, markets, and danced the night away at a tango show.

Uruguay: The final chapter took them across the river to Colonia del Sacramento, a charming UNESCO town. They sipped wines at family-run Carmelo vineyards and ended their trip in Montevideo, discovering the cultural rhythms of Uruguay from the historic city center to the coastal promenade.

Every detail — from a surprise red rose in their room to curated wine pairings — was thoughtfully orchestrated to reflect who they are and what they love.
